a roundup of reactions to Dem Debate 2B

Twitchy has a roundup of tweeted reactions to the second night of the second round of Democrat debates. The site is declaring Barack Obama the big loser of the night because, according to many tweets, half the candidates spent air time bashing Obama's legacy, criticizing both Obamacare and the ex-president's immigration policy (you'll recall he was called the Deporter in Chief for a time). I almost wish I'd watched the debate.

Apparently, Joe Biden told Kamala Harris to "go easy on me, kid." Is that Creepy Joe being creepy, or an acknowledgment of his own weakness before Harris's firebrand attitude?

My hot take after not having explored this event in any detail:

Trump's strategy of making the center left cleave to the far left is working: attacking the Squad is racist, as is observing that Baltimore is a bona fide shithole, so the left now embraces and lauds the racist Squad and inner-city shitholes, despite having clamored for money and aid for inner cities for years. If Democrats are openly criticizing the sainted Barack Obama, a beloved figure among most sane Democrats, it means the candidates have given in to teh krayzee and are espousing far-left positions in an effort to appease the frothing sector of the left, thereby alienating whatever moderate mainstream still exists. This will play into Trump's hands, and 2020 will be his for the taking. All Trump has to do is fly steady, avoid further (manufactured) scandals, and not put his foot (too far) in his mouth.

ADDENDA: The biggest loser in Wednesday’s Detroit debate was sanity: the insuperable obstacle the candidates faced was the stunning success of Donald Trump’s first three years.
