And while I have nothing against libraries, I'm a bibliophile, which means I'd rather buy than borrow. (It also means I'm not a big fan of e-books.)Kevin Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01328790917314282058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541500.post-34000672762516045672010-10-12T12:03:32.678+09:002010-10-12T12:03:32.678+09:00If you can't wait, there is such a thing as th...If you can't wait, there is such a thing as the public library. Even now, it astounds me that people throw away good money when people can borrow most of these same books from the library. I especially loved it when I lived in Houston, and I could request a book from the far-flung reaches of the extensive Harris County Library System.John from Daejeonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08431973044799010218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541500.post-44873280034483810072010-10-12T10:41:10.254+09:002010-10-12T10:41:10.254+09:00Right-- King's "director's cut" ...Right-- King's "director's cut" was a response to the novel's having been trimmed when it was originally published. I didn't enjoy the way the "new" (which is to say, "old") version of The Stand completely overturned the ending of the shorter version. With King's original ending back in place, The Stand ended up feeling too much like Needful Things to me. Instead of good triumphing over evil, evil merely suffers a temporary setback.Kevin Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01328790917314282058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541500.post-7563208479148318122010-10-12T08:38:26.781+09:002010-10-12T08:38:26.781+09:00I'm a big fan of The Stand. I thought the long version added some good context/background and I enjoyed some of the additional characters as well.

Anyway, I think reading it as it was the author originally intended is always a plus.Johnhttp://www.mccrarey.comnoreply@blogger.com
