We need at least one more major celebrity death, or one more major sex-harassment takedown before this year is up—something to screw around with all the year-in-review types who're trying to wrap the past twelve months up. Carrie Fisher kicked us in the teeth with her death last Christmas; surely someone else's number must be up (preferably someone I like less than Fisher—someone on the level of a Weinstein or a Weiner).
Come on, 2017: bring it!
Here's something unsettling for any "Batman" aficionado to ruminate into the new year on. It's an excellent documentary that's going to destroy many a fanboy's love for Bob Kane and instead shift it to the man who got the finger all those years ago.
ReplyDelete"the man who got the finger"—har har.
ReplyDeleteYeah, as soon as I saw your comment, the name "Bill Finger" immediately popped into my head.
Marc Tyler Nobleman, the man who rescued Bill Finger from obscurity with a lot of dogged determination, hard work, and a truly amazing wife, is the real hero behind this most daunting of all Batman stories. I doubt I've seen anything this inspiring in years. Not to mention, it is the best "Batman" film I've ever seen. Trust me on this, Bob Kane's "Batman" would have been a fantastic flop from the getgo without Finger's 99% product contribution. Besides coining the title, "Bat-man," I'll let you judge just what Kane contributed to this billion-plus dollar comic empire.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought Becoming Bond was the best film of the year. And surprisingly, it also hails from Hulu.
