Meanwhile people start to pile up behind them...

A special shout-out should also go to drifters. These are the people that take one step to the side for every three forward so that you start to overtake them on the right but end up having to switch to overtaking on the left lest you be cut-off. Also those idiots who park their shopping trolleys perpendicular to the flow of traffic in a supermarket or right in front of the tasting stations so that all traffic gets choked.daeguowlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03265027333985937239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541500.post-63785649475612977182014-10-26T14:23:54.967+09:002014-10-26T14:23:54.967+09:00Charles,

They're sort of like the mad offspring of Off-cutters and Close-callers.

I thought of yet another category: The Bulldozer, i.e., the person who walks straight toward you with no intention of yielding the path to you, thus forcing you to yield the path to him. I find these people most obnoxious when I'm all the way over to the right of the path. I can't dodge any farther to the right, so from my perspective, it's up to the oncoming person to dodge out of my way (우측보행!). The Bulldozer often seems aware of this fact, but just doesn't give a shit and keeps on coming.Kevin Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01328790917314282058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541500.post-31461062466793036922014-10-26T11:31:26.387+09:002014-10-26T11:31:26.387+09:00What about the kamikaze, the insane cousin of the ...What about the kamikaze, the insane cousin of the close-caller, i.e., those who will walk right into you because they're not looking where they're going.

I don't really think about these too much, though, to be honest. I guess I've become very adept at navigating foot traffic here.Charleshttp://www.liminality.orgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541500.post-67435599535379574322014-10-26T02:08:47.254+09:002014-10-26T02:08:47.254+09:00John,

I've already thought of a sixth type, not mentioned above: The Corner-rounder, i.e., a person who rounds the corner just as you're rounding the same corner. But the reason I don't think the Corner-rounder deserves a spot on the typology is that I can't attribute his actions to either maliciousness or stupidity. Corner-rounding coincidences are pancultural; they might be annoying, but there's no way to plan for them, and no way to say, "This was preventable."Kevin Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01328790917314282058noreply@blogger.com
