A couple notes before the chimes at midnight:
PEARL
Today, December 7, 2006, marks the 65th anniversary of the official entrance of the United States into World War II. This, of course, led to the defeat and surrender of the Japanese in 1945, a byproduct of which was (Korean liberation?) nothing in particular, if Noh Mu Hyeon be trusted.
MARS
Water on Mars? Life on Mars? Great, but I'm still worried about the whole "What if bacteria adapted to the harsh Martian environment hitch a ride back to earth on some astronaut, become fruitful, multiply, and eat our balls?" thing.
I'd love to study a native Martian, even if it's just a lowly bacterium... but at a safe distance, thanks. It's bad enough that humans engage in bioweapons research. Last thing we need is a real foreigner messing things up on our world.
