I had to deal with this in the military as well. Any time you log onto a government computer, classified or unclassified, you're presented with a popup which tells you that by clicking ok, you consent to monitoring. It's nothing new, although recently, it's been something new in the public sector. The bigger companies probably do it to ensure there's nothing illegal (like insider trading or other funny business) going on. I personally don't have a problem with it, as long as the company doesn't push it to the extreme. If a person wants to surf porn or play online games, let them do it at home, on their time and dime.
