Today is a national holiday in South Korea, as we remember the stand taken by a small group of people on March 1, 1919, against the Japanese occupation, which lasted from 1910 to 1945. It takes guts to speak out against the oppressor, and many people lost their lives because of the speeches made that day. Read the Wikipedia entry on the subject here.
