This freak accident left me speechless: a six-year-old girl sitting in a pool had her intestines yanked out by the force of the pool's drain. She will have to be fed intravenously-- and use a colostomy bag-- for the rest of her life. Christ.
If my memory serves, I believe Presidential hopeful John Edwards made his first big win as a lawyer in a lawsuit over a similar accident. I believe he wrote about it in his book.
Isn't it tragic that the same kind of "accident" would happen so many years later? You'd think pool manufacturers would have devised a better drain design.

I also was not aware that could happen, just emailed that to all the parents of young kids that I know.
