why some hicks are dumb hicks

My brother David sends me a link to this hilariously thought-provoking Google video that shows some hicks getting their comeuppance. The hicks should have realized what was going to happen when the car they were chasing began to wend its slow, deliberate way through wooded territory.... away from civilization, where no one would see.

Of course, you do have to wonder if it was smart to post this video.

UPDATE: Read the comments to this post.

UPDATE 2: No doubt it's a fake. The confession at Wittkopp.net (the Wittkopp URL is visible on the video) is here.

  1. Kevin, I think that this was staged. One of the other videos there was pretty obviously staged -- the one about the girlfriend caught in the act (so to speak).

  2. You know... I began to wonder about that myself. One clue that you might be right: these guys are insulting the dude for driving a BMW (implying something about owning a foreign car), but the truck they're driving is a Toyota, as you can see by the emblem on the steering wheel.

Perhaps we'll soon see a followup video that says, "Hey, this was all an act! Suckers!"

  3. Jeff,

I looked through the comments to the video, and the majority of comments declare the vid a fake. I imagine there might be legal issues about putting such a video up on Google if it weren't fake. So while I remain on the fence, I'm more than willing to entertain the possibility that this whole thing was more about "pwning" us, the viewer, than about depicting rednecks getting theirs.

  4. Listen again. These "hicks" are Canucks, 'eh. Listen closely, and real American hillbillies would not have a bat, but rather a shotgun/rifle, shovels/pitch forks, and beer bottles in their trucks to use as weapons. These are city folk, who else would call dirt roads "streets."
