Yes, the weather very suddenly turned cooler. Cold, even: I've gone from short sleeves to a winter coat in a matter of days. We've got rain and snow falling in my part of Seoul right now, and I'm hoping that the slush on the ground doesn't freeze over tonight. That's never pretty when I'm walking up and down the local inclines.
I'm also beginning to realize that I don't need crampons-- I need cleats. The spiky kind, not the blunt, rubber-studded cleats you see in kiddie league soccer.
Tomorrow, I'm hoping to buy some Thanksgiving dinner ingredients, and on Thursday, I'll be making an oven-free Turkey Day meal-- foodblogged, of course. If all goes as planned, you should see:
turkey with gravy
stuffing
peas
carrots
corn
mashed potatoes
cranberry sauce
...and pumpkin pie
I won't be able to make the pie myself, alas, but Costco sells some kick-ass pies at Thanksgiving. The turkey, however, will be totally homemade: I plan on giving birth to it on camera.

How on earth are you going to eat an entire turkey by yourself? Even a small one will be 7kg or so. Anyhow I"m interested in seeing how you cook it without the oven. The only other method I'm aware of is deep frying, but you need a rather large vat for that. All of the above assumes the Turkey is cooked whole rather than in pieces.
ReplyDeleteI've mastered roasted chicken this fall, but will hold off on the Turkey until next season as I've also over spent the last couple of weeks. Looking forward to your food blog.
no oven!
