It looks as though Tom and I will not be teaching Freshman English, after all. Thank God. It's not so much that I hate teaching FroshEng as that I didn't want to be saddled with too much extra prep. Having prepped only an outline for the upcoming semester, I'm breathing a sigh of relief that it won't be necessary.
The numbers dont look great, though. I have four classes, and the number of people breaks down like this:
CNN English: 5-6 people
CBI English: 4 people in one class; 6-7 people in the other
Intensive English: about 6 people
The actual numbers haven't been locked down (an hour or two ago, my supervisor was still figuring out where the students needed to go), but the above information is enough for me to go on. In short: no major changes in schedule or curriculum.
Good.

I'll be teaching those frosh so you don't have to.
ReplyDeleteFive classes.
25 in each class.
Fun, fun, fun.
Joe,
ReplyDeleteLast week, my supervisor couldn't even tell me the names of the GEP staffers who'd be teaching. I do hope our office didn't simply rush you guys an email at the last minute-- "Teach! NOW!"-- and then not tell you anything re: classroom numbers and textbooks. Did you get the info you needed? If not, maybe I can do something about it.
I can't believe you're going to have to teach FroshEng. Aren't you too busy?
