It annoys me when I hear fellow Americans claim that racism has all but disappeared in America. Such people really don't know enough minorities, and they aren't paying attention to this sort of infuriating nonsense-- which still happens, and isn't going away anytime soon.
It's true that the American situation has improved in some ways, but we're fighting a two-front battle: the old-school racism of white versus black (and yes, vice versa) still exists, and there's a new-school racism as well: the racism brought by immigrants from their countries of origin. Mix all that together and it's not a pretty picture. On the bright side, it's to our credit that we at least have an open dialogue about our problems.
UPDATE: If they find the racist fucks who left those death threats... I hope they lynch 'em. Poetic justice.
