Thank goodness my friend Nathan wrote about yesterday's royal wedding. I wouldn't have known what to say, aside from a neutrally toned "Congrats, you two." Nathan does the pageantry more justice in his post.
Thanks, Kevin. My enthusiasm has waned for the monarchy as an institution as it has been unable to do much to stop the Islamization of my mother country. On the other hand, there's a lot to be said for the continuity of an old and highly evolved tradition, and in any case, I like authentic, real pageantry! If I were a Christian still, I'd probably be a pre-Vatican II Catholic or Anglican.
