I first encountered this great actor on a mountain top with Half-pint (it helped that Michael Landon wrote and directed one hell of a two-part episod--even with it's far-fetched religious overtones and symbols). However, he made his greatest impression on me back when I was a kid thanks to a helicopter, but all of that work pales in comparison to his Oscar-winning role as an average butcher named Marty one Saturday.
ReplyDeleteHe was truly special.
