My buddy Mike is floating me a quick loan to help me out. In the meantime, I received a reply to last night's email to my boss: he checked with the accounting department of YB, and the department will be cutting me a check today and mailing it out; expected arrival is either tomorrow or the beginning of the week. While the super-rapid response of the YB team has been comforting, the fact that this accounting glitch happened at all feels like a fundamental violation of trust between me and the company: if I can be fucked once, I can be fucked twice.
Upshot: I'm still on track to drop my car at the body shop on Monday. So I'm feeling somewhat less angry and stressed now.
