It's almost 40 degrees outside (that's about 4.5ºC for the metric-heads), and has been for several hours. Temps actually rose at the tail end of the snowfall, which means the snow has been melting steadily. While accumulation is still thick on the ground, there's a layer of soft slush on the unplowed parts of the parking lot's asphalt, hiding under the softly piled snow. It took me only a few minutes to un-bury my car (see Lorianne's post on sculpting to get a rough feel for what I'm talking about); if the parking lot is any indication—the plowed areas all clearly show asphalt—the roads in my neighborhood will be perfectly drivable tomorrow. As I expected: a most ephemeral snow.
