I just tried and failed to get my car inspected (state inspection) at the local Sunoco gas station in Centreville, Virginia. I was too late: there was a line of cars in front of the inspection station, and the car in front of me had been fitted with a "Last Car of the Day" sign. Since I've got a short Saturday at YB tomorrow (four hours), I'll come back to the Sunoco tomorrow morning at 9AM. I had hoped to sleep in, but that's not gonna happen.
Am sitting in a Centreville Starbucks, sipping fruit juice while I wait to meet my students for our 6:30PM dinner at Bonefish Grill. Granola guitar music is playing over the speakers; the clientele is mostly Asian American—East Asian and Sikh. The baristas are all white.
Fascinating.
