Ave, Nathan!

My friend Nathan sends me a hilarious link: what the British say, what they really mean, and how people understand their utterances.

  1. I don't know if you will find this commercial exactly hilarious, but once you save up about $17,000 LG's new 84-inch UltraHD TV. LG has taken to scarily realistic prankvertising to frighten Chileans into purchasing this high priced TV. I still find it rather unbelievable that outside the U.S., TVs are still measured in inches, even if the diagonal measurement of the screen isn't quite 84 inches, but everyone knows that there is no truth in advertising.

  2. Glad you liked it, Kevin. The funny thing is, the chart is more or less how I and a number of other Canadians (but by no means all or even most) speak. My favourites include the real meanings of "by the way," "it's my fault," "I would suggest," and "I'll bear it in mind."
