when predictions go wrong

My countdown timer for the predicted demise of Kevin's Pie runs out tomorrow, September 6, and it looks as though I'm going to be proven wrong: Kevin's Pie is limping along pitifully, but it's still there, and it doesn't seem as though there'll be any "Going Out of Business" signs anytime soon. Ah, well.

See—this is why you shouldn't make predictions in anything other than a spirit of humility: when you're wrong, you inevitably look like an idiot.

  1. Some businesses hang on far longer than they have any right to. Other businesses go under when they should have stuck around for a while. Who knows how the hand of fate (aka, "the market") works?
