I'll have a lot to say when I write my review of "Arrival," which I saw last night, but I need to watch the film again before I can review it. "Arrival" touches on a host of topics I find interesting: alien life; how differently evolved minds work; the nature of and interrelationship among language, thought, and reality; the issue of fate and freedom; and of course, ultimate cosmic meaning. It doesn't hurt that the aliens, when we see them (the previews actually give a quick glimpse), don't look human, although they may remind some viewers of the disembodied hand Thing from "The Addams Family"—albeit with two too many fingers.
Expect more soon after the rewatch. I'm still processing.
