My buddy Mike texted me this morning (Thursday morning for me, Wednesday night for him on the US east coast) to share the sad news that Jhoon Rhee, the preeminent exponent of the Korean martial art taekwondo, has died. Rhee met and befriended Bruce Lee, who incorporated taekwondo-style kicks into his jeet kun do repertoire. For many TKD practitioners in the States, Rhee is a household name. He was arguably the foremost popularizer of taekwondo, the way of the foot and the fist. Rhee was 86.
