a friend in pain

I just got word that my French brother Dominique had to go to the hospital this past Saturday for emergency surgery: acute appendicitis. He's going to be fine, but he's on an IV drip (la perfusion) and fluid replenishment for the time being, which sucks. He says he can return to work in about a week, so I guess that's something. I almost envy him: appendicitis would be the quick way for me to be forced onto a true diet. Heh. Anyway, Dom has my hopes for a speedy recovery (un prompt rétablissement). When I asked him how his family was doing, he texted back, "Everyone's just fine compared to me."
