In an emotional speech after the disaster that was Super Tuesday, former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg announced he would be abandoning his run for president. I can only imagine how this news might affect crazy old Clint Eastwood, who only recently came out as a Bloomberg supporter. Bloomberg reportedly spent around $700 million on his failed bid for the presidency, a huge waste of funds that is enough to make one wonder how he ever had the financial acumen to earn his megabucks in the first place.
For me, Bloomberg's departure comes as a real relief. It's no exaggeration to say that this was a That was too close moment. At the same time, it was a reassuring demonstration of the fact that a campaigner can outspend his competition and still lose. This was the lesson Hillary Clinton should have learned in 2016 when Donald Trump handed her her fat ass after she spent 3-4 times what Trump did in her own run for the brass ring. Bloomberg must now get in line behind Hillary and endure her acrid resentment-farts, which she's been emitting for four years straight. They say that elevators smell different to midgets.
Anyway, good fucking riddance.
Goodbye, and good riddance indeed!
ReplyDeleteI think Elizabeth Warren's best moment in her own campaign was her takedown of Bloomberg during that debate. I've never seen her that focused and energetic. True, she was doing what she does best, i.e., playing the role of the aggrieved victim by going all #MeToo on Bloomberg, but it was still an effective moment that doubtless helped to alter the perception of Bloomberg in millions of minds.
ReplyDeleteMan, think of all the good things that 700 million could have done for people in need. I wish Bloomie would give me just 1 million and I'd show him how it's done.
