The good news from Blogger is that those of us who cling to the current "legacy" Blogger format can opt to stick with it. The so-called "new Blogger" will be the default option at the end of June, but the legacy interface will still be available to those of us who—like yours truly—fear and loathe change when it comes to blogging. Thank almighty Cthulhu.
Where did you see this particularly wonderful piece of good news?
ReplyDeleteWhen you're in Blogger itself (blogger.com), you'll occasionally see an announcement posted on a rectangular yellow background. Some time ago, the announcement changed from merely declaring the "new Blogger" would be the default interface to saying that we would have the option of staying with "legacy" Blogger. I'd take a snapshot of the message for you, but because I reflexively dismiss these announcements whenever they appear, I don't currently see the message on display. Sorry!

ReplyDeleteWhere would you go? I've been shopping around, but all I tried are either worse than Blogger or just do not allow me to do what I'd like. I've tried WP, Wix, Squarespace and some others, I don't temember anymore.
ReplyDeleteI had been thinking about Squarespace. What did you find unsatisfactory about it? (I'm assuming that, whichever site I move to, it'll be a paid site. Sad, but that's the practical reality.)
ReplyDeleteIt's mainly a place for e-shops websites and such. I could not add my own header, sidebars and a lot of other stuff I lug around.
ReplyDeleteAs you see, my own blog's template is pretty stripped-down and simple. If I can put up a header and have a sidebar that hosts things like a blogroll, a blog archive, small graphics, and links to my other sites (e.g., my Teespring site), I'm good. It sounds as if Squarespace is pretty inflexible in that regard.
ReplyDeleteYou could go try WP, some of the themes in the free part are at laeast that costumizable. I just can't grasp how WP works, and get it totally bungled up in less than half an hour with HTML, different letter sizes/types, aberrant photos and everything just floating around. I'm not specially IT moronic, but WP brings out the worst n me - every time - I tried three times with years in between. Sigh. It seems I'm stuck with New Blogger's antics.
