Ave, Charles!

Read about Charles's adventures in cake.  Charles expresses a preference for Western-style cakes over Korean cakes, and I heartily agree.  Korean cakes are often short on sugar, egg, and butter, which means they lack heft and substance.  They're dry, crumbly, and often bland.  Perhaps the worst offenders are those goddamn "roll cakes" that you find in every Korean bakery.  As Oliver Reed's Proximo utters in Gladiator:  "Ashes and dust."
