Leftists aren't the smartest group of people, but one of their signal stupidities is their inability and/or unwillingness to
listen to people who have quit countries dominated by the leftist ideology of central planning—people like North Korean escapee Yeonmi Park (now a dual ROK/US citizen), who has spoken about life in North Korea and what it was like to leave that hellhole. Park has now run up against American leftism as incarnated in the sinister agenda of Big Tech: she has tried to speak out against socialism, but YouTube has slapped her down:
Pardon her English, but to be fair, she's come a long, long way since leaving the North. Meanwhile, until leftists finally wake up and listen to these people—people who have escaped places like Cuba and Venezuela and North Korea and Soviet-era Eastern Europe—the stupidity will continue. And some of these idiots think I'm a fascist.
This is why I've pretty much given up trying to engage these people. They have no interest in listening to reason and facts be damned if they don't jibe with their world view. What's astounding to me is that many of them are otherwise highly intelligent but they are just so indoctrinated in leftist dogma they can't manage to consider other viewpoints. It's like challenging someone's religious beliefs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, my interlocutor is a smart guy, too, but not when it comes to politics. And leftism dovetails nicely with his native self-righteousness, deepening the rot in his soul. "Fascism"? I don't think he has the first fucking clue what real fascism is, or what it's like to live in an actual fascist country. If the US were truly fascistic, he'd be terrified even to make such an accusation out loud. But, no: lefties shout "Hitler! Mussolini! Fascist! Racist! Bigot!" because they're cowards who know full well that they can be loud and not suffer any consequences. There's nothing brave or principled about their stance; deep down, they know they don't live in fascistic conditions, but admitting that fact would burst their reality-shunning bubble.
