My A1c is up a full point, from 5.7 to 6.7. I don't consider that tragic, but it's an indication that I haven't shaken the diabetes. I asked about my triglycerides this time around. Last time, the number was 131. This time, it's 171. That doesn't sound good. According to a Harvard chart I saw, under 150 is normal. 150-199 is borderline high, so that's where I am now. 200-499 is high, and 500 or higher is very high. We'll try carnivore for a month and see whether that brings the weight and everything else down (I have no way to measure triglycerides at home), and I guess I'll find out more this coming March 31, which is when my next appointment is.
I was told that my kidney function got a bit worse; the solution the doctor offered was to drink a lot more water, which sounds sensible. Cholesterol is okay, but the second doc I saw said I should lose another 10 kg, which has been my goal all along. Gimme a chance, doc, eh? I lost sixty pounds in three months, for God's sakes! I want to take it slow from now on.
So that's where things currently stand. I'm taking a bit of a vacation from fasting and exercising, but I'll be back on track after the weekend. Stay tuned.
Overall, a milepost indicates good progress in the right direction. It will be interesting to see how well carnivore works for you. I wouldn't mind giving it a try if I could find a meat-based beer...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, nothing to be discouraged about. Keep on keepin' on!
