While my left eye is still red, there's been no pain ever since I started using my prescribed eye drops moderately and according to instructions. The condition feels as if it might be improving; at this stage, I'd call it manageable. Wikipedia's entry on conjunctivitis says this infection can last up to two weeks, and this weekend will be the two-week mark. If things aren't better by midweek next week, I'll hit up a specialist. But for now, I'm pain-free and sleeping comfortably. I'm also no longer suffering from huge mucus buildups—a possible sign the infection may be on its way out.
Keep us updated. Hopefully you'll be doing better by Saturday.
ReplyDeleteHave any of your colleagues had problems as well?
Yeah, my American colleague came in with pink eye last week (mine started a bit before his), and he's having trouble getting rid of his infection as well. We're all frequently washing hands and cleaning common surfaces, of course, as well as avoiding eyeball-to-eyeball contact. At the advice of his wife, my colleague visited a hospital for treatment (his wife frequently visits hospitals... my coworker thinks she may be a bit of a hypochondriac). His meds don't seem to be helping him any more than mine are. I think this just has to run its course. I'll be there this Saturday, redness or no redness. As things are now, the red eye isn't impeding my lifestyle any.
ReplyDeleteI read up on pink eye and as far as prevention the CDC recommends: 1) washing your hands, 2) washing your hands, and 3) washing your hands. If you want to be extra careful, you should also wash your hands. As long as we do that, I imagine we'll be OK.
ReplyDeleteWell, CDC, I guess I'll continue doing what I'm already doing, then! (I read much the same thing in the Wikipedia entry re: Hände waschen.)
ReplyDeleteIf I remember to, I'll bring a bottle of disinfectant gel with me on Saturday so I don't scare the two of you.
Oh, don't worry. I plan on enclosing myself in a bubble filled with disinfectant gel and breached only by a filtered snorkel to breathe through. We should be good.
