a brief history of Enes Kanter Freedom

Did you hear about the pro basketball player who educated himself about Chinese oppression (and other forms of oppression), started wearing "Free Tibet" and "Free Uyghurs" shoes, then got booted from the NBA for his human-rights stance? Meet Enes Kanter Freedom, formerly just Enes Kanter. The guy's got boulder-sized balls. Much respect.

Why'd he get booted? Did you guess money? Yup. With the Chinese market as huge as it is, Chinese complaints (and the banning of NBA broadcasts) meant loss of global revenue. That's what it comes down to. The NBA is just another whore. Not even worth spitting on.

  1. He's a hero, for sure. It is strange how almost no one on the left is willing to call China out for all the atrocities it perpetuates. Why, it's almost as if they see China as a model.
