Below is an interesting exploration of a huge potential energy source. We've known about this source for a while and have exploited it where possible, but geothermal energy is right now limited by geography: it's available only where it's accessible. But with fracking technology, it may be possible to break rocks in a hot spot on the earth's crust and bring that heat closer to the surface, solving the accessibility problem. Use fracking tech to pump water down into that hot spot... and voilĂ : steam energy. Lots of it. A potentially unlimited supply of it once an initial infrastructure is put into place. I imagine that that initial infrastructure would be costly, but the eventual dividends could be something else.
