If, like me, you're starting to weary of all the ranting and raving about how woke new Disney films are becoming, e.g., when they race-swapped the Little Mermaid for no good reason, then the following video might come as a relief. Near as I can figure, this dude is a UK-based sculptor, but his accent indicates he's probably Canadian (he pronounces mouth as "mohth" and process as "prohsess"). I've watched a couple of the guy's videos, and his shtick is to take a famous property and deliberately, hilariously misunderstand it, so the Ariel you see taking form in the video looks nothing like Disney's Ariel, race-swapped or not. After you finish watching this video, go watch his mangling of Spider-Man.
Man, I usually don't make it too far into these videos, but this guy is such a talented artist I sat here in awe.
ReplyDeleteI've never been a big mermaid fan since the best parts were a little too fishy for me. I just assumed she was good with her mouth. This version is a whole other animal. Still a bit too weird to find attractive, but I guess some folks enjoy seafood...
