toe update

Self-isolating during my session with COVID meant being largely off my feet for about a week, giving my right big toe even more time to heal. If there were any chance that fluid was building up inside the toe wound (a reasonable concern voiced by my friend Bill), this buildup would have shown itself during my self-isolation period. But, nope—nothing. It's still very, very tempting to declare my toe totally healed—especially since I've gone a couple weeks, now, without using any bandages—but I won't make an official declaration until I've done several long walks with no bandages (preferably several walks in a row).

Meanwhile, here's how things looked as of Tuesday evening:

The sock's discoloration comes from previous bleeding and washing. No new stains.

There's what appears to be the remnants of a wound, but it's closed up.

I might treat myself to a pedicure, at some point—see if the little lady in the building where I work can do something to prettify my skin a bit with her potions, special tools, and magical chants to the chthonian gods of toes.

Coming out of a double whammy like this—the toe wound plus COVID, I mean—actually feels pretty good. I hope the cosmos lets up on me for a while so I can rest and enjoy life before the next big problem arises. Colon polyps? Testicular cancer?
