In the lively video below, Dr. Chris Raynor explains the ins and outs of former porn star Adriana Chechik's various spine-related injuries after she tried jumping into a poorly constructed foam pit and ended up smacking her coccyx onto concrete, resulting in at least two spinal injuries, leakage of cerebrospinal fluid, and multiple surgeries (plus painful therapy) to get her back up to speed. Chechik used to be a porn star, but she transitioned to video-game livestreaming. It was in this latter phase of her career that she sustained her back injury. Video of the moment Chechik injured herself looks plenty painful. She was at a TwitchCon event when she threw herself off a high platform, arms up high, in full faith that she'd enjoy a soft landing. Unfortunately, the foam "pit" she was using wasn't even a pit in any sense: it was a concrete floor with barely two layers of broken-up foam covering it. Most foam pits have at least two meters of foam as well as bouncy, trampoline-like bottoms to cushion impact. Whatever you might think of Chechik and her former career, you'll still feel a twinge of sympathy for her as you watch the following video. Several other people threw themselves off the same platform at that event, and a few of those people ended up injured as well. If the event organizers weren't sued for negligence, I'd be very surprised (some comments said that participants had to sign waivers, but this sort of negligence might nullify any indemnity).
