a cool CGI rendering of the Battle of the Heroes

Here's a CGI rendering of the final battle between Obi-wan and Anakin from "Revenge of the Sith." It adds a bit of dialogue, and it subtracts that corny "Noooo!" by Vader at the end. Some of it feels a bit too slavishly blow-by-blow, but the animator did a great job of imitating the aesthetic from the "Clone Wars" series. And the voiceover work for Anakin is arguably better than what Hayden Christensen did.*

*Keep in mind that I'm not a Hayden Christensen hater. As I've mentioned before, I saw Christensen's performance in the movie "Shattered Glass," the story of the rise and fall of journalist Stephen Glass, who was finally caught having fabricated dozens of his news stories. I don't know whether Christensen is a great actor overall, but he was perfect for that role, and he played Glass with subtlety, creepy charm, and more than a touch of insanity. So while Christensen gave a wooden performance in the Star Wars prequels, he's absolutely a talented actor when taken out of the Star Wars context. "Shattered Glass" proves this.

  1. This post led me to revisit the Stephen Glass fiasco to refresh my memory and see what he's been up to. Graduated from law school but denied entry to the bar in NY and CA. Of course, these days, being a lying liar is a prerequisite for employment in journalism.
