"The walls are closing in."

"The walls are closing in" is a turn of phrase often used by leftists about Donald Trump every time they think they've finally gotten him through their bogus shenanigans, whether it's Pissgate or Russiagate or Stormygate or Realestategate or whatever—and it keeps not happening. The sentence itself has become a running joke, often written with initial caps (The Walls Are Closing In) or as a hashtag (#WallsAreClosingIn) to imply a snide awareness that, whatever trap the left thinks Trump has fallen into is yet another mirage.

But in Joe Biden's case, this latest press conference represents some sort of watershed moment. While I personally don't see Biden's performance in that conference as much worse than usual, many commentators have pointed out that his own Department of Justice is now on record as saying he's mentally feeble, leaving all of us with the open question of how someone can be mentally incompetent to stand trial but competent enough to run the country. So it could at last be true that, for Joe Biden at least, the walls truly are closing in.

Current theorycrafting is that Biden is being prepared—prepared to be thrown under the bus by the time of the Democrat National Convention in August. Such a thing is possible, but Biden himself still seems to possess enough will and ego to insist on remaining on the ballot, a fact that would please the MAGA wing of the GOP to no end. Run, Joe! Run!
