From Kristi Noem to Crazy Karen:
I'd be fired on my first day as a police officer. A woman like this would prompt me to find a heavy cudgel and alter the topography of her skull.
You know what might be nice? And yes, I realize this is impossible because it'd be illegal: a collar or cable that you fit around the perp's neck, and when you activate it, it tightens to the point of cutting off breathing. Cruel? Horrible? Sure. But if you're trying to stop a fight or even a constant spew of death threats, what better way to send the perp off to dreamland? You can un-constrict the device once the perp is verifiably out. Couple this with some kind of electrode EEG set that verifies unconsciousness, so you know the perp isn't faking quiescence.
Like any weapon, though, such a collar could theoretically be turned against the user... if the perp figures out how to activate it.
But when police departments make chokeholds illegal, what chance does this device have of ever being made? Zilch.
