If you've seen 1997's "Contact," you know there's this one incredible slo-mo shot that seems to follow actress Jena Malone (only a little girl at the time) up the stairs to a medicine cabinet to help her dad, who's having a heart attack. The shot tracks up the stairs to a bathroom medicine cabinet... then it pulls back and reveals that we may have been seeing a mirror image the entire time. The pullback is disorienting and makes you lose your bearings; there's a "What did I just see?" kind of thing that happens to you. The following video explains how the shot was executed using 90s-era technology:
