—song lyrics, and inadvertent confirmation of what defines the only two sexes there are
Boy, you can tell from the clunky lyrics that this musical wasn't made by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Whatever you might think of Miranda's politics (I tend to think he's more liberal than leftist), he is undoubtedly a super-talented libretto writer, composer, and creator of musicals (he's the guy who created "Hamilton" and did the music for both "Moana" and "Encanto"). I would probably watch a Miranda musical even of it were a paean to the life of Karl Marx—Miranda's that good (listen to a "Hamilton" song here). Writer-director Jacques Audiard, who based "Emilia Pérez" on the French-language novel Écoute, is a musical dimwit by comparison.
