You never know what might turn out to be nasty. In the UK, an American might produce snickers if he were to refer to his trousers as pants. This is because the Brits will often use pants to mean what Americans call underwear. But surely, even the Brits have to have a laugh at spotted Dick, which sounds like a medical condition. I've known about spotted Dick for a while, but I don't think I've ever tried it. Something for the bucket list? Or something I should watch my girlfriend choke down?

Spotted Dick is pretty good if you have a good sauce for it. I wouldn't make a habit of eating it. If offered the choice of some other type of British dessert pudding I would likely choose another pudding. But it isn't bad at all.
