monsoon, monsooning

As my bus progresses south to a scheduled 12:20 arrival in Masan, we've run into heavy rains that my friend Neil describes as the monsoon. In Seoul, up north, monsoon season starts in July, but Masan is down south by Busan—a whole different climatic universe. I'm currently texting back and forth with Neil about canceling and rescheduling and just heading back up to Seoul, but he's saying a meet-up is still okay despite the downpour and all of the broadcast rain warnings. So we'll see. I think I'm just going to meet him briefly, eat lunch with him, hand over some cookies, and skedaddle back north. I feel guilty about making Neil come meet me in this rain. We can try this again in the fall.
