That third film was weighed down by too much nonsense. But I did like the rendering of the Yorktown Starbase.
ADDENDUM: technically, Abrams didn't direct the third film (that was Justin Lin), but it was done in the spirit of the two previous films, which had been directed by Abrams. These three films are often referred to as "Abrams Trek" or "the Kelvin timeline."
