content creation

The first Substack newsletter is a go! I've got a month's worth of posts to put up, but so far, I've done only a week's worth. These particular newsletters will come out only once a day, and they're available both to non-paying subscribers and to people who just visit the site directly without any subscription at all. I can't honestly ask anyone to engage in paid subscriptions yet because, frankly, I have no paid content. But once I finish the first month of free content, I'll start building up the paid content.

So the main "regular" grammar/language Substack is BigHominid's Extraordinarily Voluptuous Grammar Buttocks, which can be found at the link. There are a couple of introductory posts on the main page, and if you look up top, you'll also see various tabs: Home, The Superficial, The Profound, Archive, and About. Home is simply the main-page link; The Superficial is the section where I'll be posting my free content for Grammar Buttocks. The first newsletter has just gone out; if you've subscribed (don't cost nuthin'), then you're on the mailing list, and you've received the newsletter as of 5 p.m. today, Seoul time. I see that I need to work on the graphics for the Superficial and Profound sites: apparently, all I get is a thumbnail for each of those sections. The Profound is where all of the in-depth, paid-subscriber content will be going. I've set the subscription rates at the minimum: either $5 a month if you go for the monthly paradigm, or $50 a year (cheaper per month!) if you choose to pay a yearly fee.

The other Substack, which is entirely a paid-subscription thing (so no subdividing into sections), is BigHominid's Extraordinarily Large and Sweaty Grammar Crack, and according to the site's description, this site is:

The psychologically abusive, potentially traumatic (and more expensive) way to learn grammar if you don't mind filthy language and blistering insults. The, uh, "adult" option for people wanting a little more entertainment when learning a boring subject.

This site is also, as the above blurb says, more expensive. The monthly subscription rate has been set to $12; the yearly rate is $110. There's also a "founding member's" rate of $300, paid yearly; I expect no one ever to take that option. Also, as previously mentioned, this nastier grammar/language site currently has no content, so I don't expect anyone to subscribe yet. I'll let everyone know when there's actual content.

Anyway, I'm going out for a walk tonight (not to Seongnam/Bundang, though, but a more modest distance), and I'll keep chugging away at content creation once I'm back.

More news later.
