welcome to August

Hard to believe it's already August.

For this blog, this will be the final month of scheduled posts, memes, embedded YouTube videos, current events, politics, etc. It's going to be a much more peaceful, quiet blog after this month. Expect more in the way of personal reflections, movie reviews, and maybe even some religion-related musings (something I haven't been much into since Mom died). Less stress and work for me, less of a headache for my left-inclined readers, less stuff for them to skip over. Oh, I'll still be watching the news and forming my opinions, but taking the time and effort to express them—something I've done since the blog's inception in 2003—will no longer be a part of my writing life. It's not a matter of giving up, per se: it's more a matter of reducing my own, self-imposed workload.

August! For those of us north of the equator, this is the last month of truly intense heat and humidity. Tomorrow evening, I think I might try a nasty, sweaty, 18K walk down to Seongnam City, then take my sweaty self back to my place via subway. Today, meanwhile, I've started the process of gathering up memes with poor English so as to make grammar-related posts for the free content on my "regular" Substack newsletter. So for those of you who are non-paying subscribers, expect something new in the email soon.

Enjoy August, if you're in the northern hemisphere, as much as it's gonna enjoy you.
