Interesting thing: I just published Bad Online English #14, and it’s already got 23 views despite my having only 14 subscribers (after a couple weeks active on Substack, the sub number is 12 free, 2 paying). 53% of the traffic (about 12 views) is from email, but what interests me is the 26% of the views (about 6) coming from “direct” viewing. 23 views, 14 subscribers. This post also has an "email opens" rate of 52% (7 subscribers), so... what are the implications? I don’t know stats, but I’m tempted to interpret this to mean there are more people viewing my posts than there are subscribers. If so, then I welcome the new folks.
