But when do you cross the line from being highly critical to being outright racist? And if the Chinese view of the Africans they encounter is racist, why engage in Belt and Road projects in African countries at all? The whole thing is a money-loser. I can guess that Belt-and-Road is really a bait-and-switch designed to get these poor nations on the hook to China (which is itself poor and inefficient in many respects—in fact, a lot of "first-world" countries contain backwards, third-world aspects that they're uncomfortable discussing); I've watched enough China Uncensored to understand China's project pretty clearly. But it's still a dumb, laborious, time-consumptive way to make money. Viewed in that light, a lot of what the Chinese guy says is hypocritical because similar problems exist in China itself.
