100 Below: Volume 29

Pierre Louvain stepped back from the tank, satisfied.

"Look," he said. "We did it."

Charlotte leaned close and stared through the portal. She clicked to increase magnification. The fetus-sized thing floating in the nutrient bath became more than a clump of cells--

She gasped.

It was an exact replica of Charlotte's dead grandmother, wrinkles and all.

"Amazing, no?" Pierre whispered. "There she is, in miniature."

Charlotte's eyes brimmed with tears. Her grandmother!

Inside the tank, old, wizened Jeannette Desmarais scowled at the giant, watery eye and pondered what it would taste like. Her tiny stomach rumbled with demonic hunger.
