OK, so I'm a little slow on the uptake. I'm sure Elisson's tribute mentioned 2006, and I somehow missed that.
It's amazing, though, how quickly people react to my tossed-off posts, but I get no reaction at all to posts that I slave over. What a weird readership.
OK, I see that Elisson did not mention 2006, but he also didn't imply that Knotts had recently died, so all blame for being slow on the uptake rests on me.
The commenting thing makes perfect sense, really. A short note like this one merits an equally short, no-thought reply. Major posts require digesting. I for one would avoid a single sentence comic response to a 1500-word essay. When I do reply to those, it's after a lot of careful reading and careful thought, and that takes time (which I don't always have) and focus (which is often in short supply).
All comments are subject to approval before they are published, so they will not appear immediately. Comments should be civil, relevant, and substantive. Anonymous comments are not allowed and will be unceremoniously deleted. For more on my comments policy, please see this entry on my other blog.
AND A NEW RULE (per this post): comments critical of Trump's lying must include criticism of Biden's or Kamala's or some prominent leftie's lying on a one-for-one basis! Failure to be balanced means your comment will not be published.
Uh...he died in 2006.
ReplyDeleteDon Knotts died in 2006.

ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad, Kev. Think of all the folks who died just after Michael Jackson did. Who noticed?

ReplyDeleteIt's just a bit late
ReplyDeleteTo ululate
For Mr. Knotts
Though he made us smile
He's been gone a while
Has Mr. Knotts
Once he lived amongst men
Until the sad day when
He was Not
