It's been nine days since my thumb-slicing incident, and my thumb has healed to the point where it needs no more bandages. That's actually been true for three or four days. The little gremlins in my fingertip have been hard at work sewing my thumb back together. In the end, all I needed to do was give the wound time to scab over. No need for a finger condom or rubber kitchen glove to catch any bleeding: after about the second day, there was barely any leakage of blood. I expect the current tiny scab to fall off in another week. The thumb is, as of now, pretty much fully functional. And there's been no infection, either.
