leftovers from last Friday

There was enough left over from Thursday's bánh mì luncheon to make some more sandwiches. And because I was in an experimental mood, I also bought and used some tortillas. Results were mixed. It might be better to stick with baguettes.

How you build the sandwich. Not how my coworker built it. Hmph.

Microwaving the tortilla proved unwise: when the tortilla cooled down, it stiffened and cracked in places.

Doing nothing to the tortilla proved to be the better option.

A bánh mì really is incredible. Is it the best sandwich I've ever eaten? No. But it's up there, and for me, as a heretofore bánh mì virgin, it provided the experience of something very different. I'll be making these again at some point. With all of the fresh ingredients, a bánh mì feels more like a summer sandwich than a winter one.
