frying ass hair

First order of business: Many thanks to the Smallholder for his haiku tribute in honor of my obtaining the Smoo position.

Second order of business: an account of a minor miracle.

Last night, I'd made the mistake of drinking Coke, an action that I generally don't think twice about. However, perhaps thanks to the slow rehabilitation of my body from all the Namsan hiking, caffeinated drinks are starting to affect me at night. This didn't use to be the case. The result, last night, was that I stayed up until nearly 4AM. I killed time rereading Harry Potter and gloomily realized I wouldn't be getting up at 6:45AM without serious help.

The 6:45 alarm sounded; I slapped it off and decided to risk sleeping a while longer. When I woke up again, it was around 9AM. I felt well rested, but wary. Prying an eye open and listening intently, I scanned the premises for renovator- and Adjoshi-shaped life forms.

Nothing.

9AM and... nothing.

I marvelled at this. Today's a fantastic day to be tearing out and replacing the guts of a house. Why no renovators? Why no Adjoshi? I got up, showered, performed my various ablutions, and decided to risk an ambulatory scan of the courtyard and the upstairs.

What I saw when I peeked into the upstairs living room window explained everything: the living room floor now sports a fresh new layer of concrete, obviously laid on yesterday in my absence. This means the renovators can't do anything more until it dries.

I hope it takes a month.

Let's be realistic, though: everyone'll be back either tomorrow or the next day.

Anyway, it was a decent start to a bright and beautiful morning. Silence, blessed silence, the only sounds being those of the birds outside... and the crackling noise of the static electricity generated by my ponderous buttocks as I lumbered happily 'round my demesne.
